Welcome and Thank You.
The Catholic Diocese of Oakland and the Department of Catholic Schools are grateful that you are looking at the Catholic School Education Programs for Pre-School, Elementary, Junior High and Secondary education.
The first Catholic school in the United States was St. Mary’s in Philadelphia in 1783. Our Catholic schools continue to educate Catholic students as well as children of other religious beliefs with a direction to learn about God and Jesus Christ. The message of Christ’s love toward all people is instilled in each student as they grow in wisdom and learn how to make our world a better place. Parents are the primary teachers of their children and the Catholic school reinforces by example, study and real life experiences using Prayer, the Gospels and a daily opportunity to put them into practice.
The academic excellence of our students is evident with the success of our 8th graders accepted into our Catholic high schools and our secondary high school students accepted into college and the scholarships and grants they receive.
You and your students are important to us, please feel free to contact us with any questions. A Catholic school education is an investment, sometimes with a sacrifice, however, the rewards for the future of the child are lasting.

Interim Superintendent of Schools
